  1. What is on the entrance test? The entrance test is a "readiness" inventory. Readiness includes: being able to learn in both small and large groups; being able to focus and stay on task; and being able to speak clearly and follow directions. Children are asked to identify shapes, colors, numbers and positions. They may be asked to do some cutting and will converse with the teacher. Children do not need to know how to read, write or spell to enter Kindergarten.

  1. What is the teacher/student ratio? There are 22 students, one full time teacher and one full time instructional aide. The children also have computer education, music, dance instruction and physical education. There is also a developmental component to our program. A group of children leave the class to do developmental play activities while the rest have small group instruction in core academics and then they switch places.

  1. How do children adjust to full day schedule? Because many of the children have been in full time preschool/day-care programs prior to entering Kindergarten they are used to long days. The children adjust easily to the school routine and are able to manage the full day.

  1. How is the day structured? The morning is dedicated to core academic subjects, reading, math, language arts, religion, art and handwriting. Also included in the morning are PE and dance. The afternoon includes a quiet time, story, calendar, sharing, science, social studies, computers and library.  We have two recesses just before lunch and one in the afternoon. The full day program provides the opportunity to offer both structured academics, as well as developmentally appropriate activities.

  1. Entrance testing is scheduled as applications are turned in to the office. Acceptance letters are sent as soon as preschool evaluations have been received and entrance testing has been completed.
