Congratulations to the 5 th grade girls' basketball team as they completed an undefeated CYO season by defeating St. Thomas More in the championship game.   The team marched through the CYO season with a perfect 10-0 season.   The team's magical season was highlighted by tough and aggressive team defense and plenty of teamwork. The team was coached by Antonio Mercado.   The players are as follows: Sydney Mercado, Sky Garcilasodelavega, Pearla Lewis, Alexis Pineda, Liann Menhavez, Ashley Clemente and Cassidy Ricasa.   Way to go!

Congratulations to Coleen Mercado for winning second place in the national essay contest "Faithful Citizenship." Below is her essay:

It is a great honor to be a Catholic in the United States. We all have a big part to do. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we will teach others about our religion and show them what God and Jesus had taught us. Look at the problems our world is facing, abortion of babies, hunger, global warming, people loosing jobs, marriages between both males or both females, and many more. As faithful citizens of the United States, we will try to do what should be done to solve these problems and try to set things that we have done wrong, right. One thing we could do is to Stop, Think, Pray and Choose. We should stop what we are doing for a   while, think about what we are about to do, pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us, and lastly, choose to do the right thing. My school is always practicing these teachings and I thought that sharing it would really help all of us. If we follow these teachings we can probably know the best answer or choice. Even though we are facing these problems, God will continue to guide us and touch our hearts saying, "I am with you my child always, and I will never leave your side."

If all of us can do our part and become faithful citizens, our country would be a better place to live and will truly be like what its name stands for, United.

God bless America!

How Do You Serve Others?
By: Jnelle Aganan

To serve God is to serve others. Serving God starts with our families. Every day, we work, love, support and give to our family. As we give to our family, we give service to God.

Be a friend with everyone. That is the simplest way to serve. As we take the time to be friendly, we will not only support others but also build a community of support. Make others feel at home and then you feel at home. Kindness opens doors to good friends.

Serving is also being a responsible citizen. Promoting peace and justice is one way to be a good citizen.

Congratulations to 6th and 7th grade girls volleyball team for winning the first ever CYO championship. After a season record of 5 and 3, and beating St. Cecilia in the playoffs we were ready to take on St. Thomas the Apostle. It was by far one of the most exciting games to date. Twice the Angels had to fight back from a large deficit to win the best 2 out of 3 games earning our 1st place title. The best compliment was when the other coach thanked us for honoring the spirit of the game by playing bump, set, spike. Thank you to parents, students, teachers and friends for your support and enthusiastic cheering, but most of important thanks to the girls for making it all come true! (Coach Kathi Lee)

Congratulations to the 4th - 5th grade girls' volleyball team as they competed in the 5th grade division 5 championship game against St. Cecilia on November 15th .   They completed a fantastic season by having a regular season record of 5 wins and 3 losses and were runner-ups in the championship game.   They defeated the 1 st place team, West Portal, in the playoffs to reach the "ship."   Thank you to the coaching staff of Cathy Gerona, Ally Gonzalez and Gigi Ricasa...Great Season Angels!   Thank you for all your hard work and effort! (Patrick Calma, Sports Director)
