OLD BUSINESS:

There was only one correction to the April 7 minutes: There was no jumper donated to the school by the Bouska family. The minutes were approved by the group through the motion of Ron and seconded by Val.

Sister Leonarda gave each HAPAC rep a copy of the Spring Festival financial report prepared by Mrs. Reich. She also read a note from Mrs. Reich. Sister asked each HAPAC rep to comment on the Mrs. Reich's report:

Kinder: Catherine asked why $200 was taken out of booth sponsor donations when Sister told the group that booth sponsors get a space in the festival program.

1 st grade: Romy will talk to Mrs. Reich about their sponsor. Sister recommended that he puts it in writing.

2 nd grade: May said the report is OK.

3 rd grade: Queenie will present the report to her parents. She thanked the third grade parents for being supportive.

4 th grade: No questions regarding the report.

5 th grade: Expenses should be 0 and profit should be $610

6 th grade: Jail ticket total should be 229 not 129

7 th grade: Kim thought that prices for face paint should be raised next year. Sales form Silent auction was not included in their booth.

8 th grade: Gina had the same question as Catherine. Cuneo Bakery should have been credited as 8 th grade booth sponsor.

Gina was grateful that the parish had a booth in this year's festival. Three new families checked in at her Welcoming Booth. She invited 18 new families, four confirmed but only 3 showed up. Gina gave away Holy Angels pencils and pens to the group. She also thanked Luther for volunteering to pass out the name tags to all HAPAC reps during the festival. She said that Daly City officials/council members were invited to our festival. Gina said that the office of Senator Leland Yee will give another proclamation for the teachers. Sister Leonarda said that this will happen on graduation day, May 30 th .

Comments about the Spring Festival:

Kinder: Catherine said that a lot of children enjoyed the games because they were new to the festival. She thanked Mater Dolorosa and Jim Rodriguez for the games. She said the booth did not really make a lot of money just on games because only one or two tickets were charged per game. Prizes were all donations. There weren't a lot of parent volunteers.

1 st grade: Maritess said the festival was well attended and all went well in their booth. Romy said that their sponsor Niche's is offering 10% discount to all Holy Angels students and families.

2 nd grade: May said she "wished she knew the cost before hand so we could have shopped around first." She said their booth was very busy. Unfortunately the basketball arcade was broken.

3 rd grade: Queenie said she is very proud of her class parents. They had a lot of volunteers.

4 th grade: Sam said all went well. Barbie put up all the signs and decorations of the booth. They also had a lot of volunteers.

5 th grade: Grace said that their booth had a lot of volunteers. There were people looking for food in their booth. Sister Leonarda mentioned that there was a suggestion that each booth sell food and have games. Rosalie said that there was a lot of support from Mater Dolorosa parents specifically the Abads, Riveras, and Zelayas.

6 th grade: Rosanna said that everything went great. Ice cream was sold out at 1:00 PM. Many parents helped. She also commented that the jail has lost its appeal. Ron commented on some parking problems. He suggested that we have parent volunteers next year to make sure that all cars are parked properly in the lot. Val said that there seemed to be fewer parking spaces this year at the festival because the tents were moved back to avoid drilling on the newly paved school ground. Rosanna said that there should be recycling bins next to the trash. Kim said that last year Ted ordered recycling bins from Allied Waste for the festival.

7 th grade: Kim said everything was great and their booth was very busy. She thanked a few parents who helped with the face painting and balloons. Val thanked Kim for all the hard work she did for the booth. He said he was not able to help out a lot in the booth because he had to take care of electrical problems.

8 th grade: Gina commented about the wonderful parents in her class who are always willing to make a donation and volunteer. Emy said that there was no HAPAC rep in the 8 th grade booth during the festival because she was sick and Gina was at the Welcoming Booth, but all went well because parents like Mrs. Manalo and Mrs. Joves came out to help. Emy said that it is good to "train parents" so they can help when needed.

Other comments:

•  Catherine said that little kids should be separated from the big kids when playing inside the slide jumper. There were a few kindergarteners who got hurt inside the slide jumper because they were allowed inside with the bigger kids. Gina also said that there should be someone checking or watching the shoes. There were a few kids who lost their shoes and some kids who took others' shoes.

•  Sister Leonarda thanked Carlito Panganiban, Noel Reyes and Mr. Jose for coordinating the setting up and taking down the tents.   She also thanked all the parents who helped out.   They did a great job!

•  Catherine said that Bess Mandapat suggested that for next year all booths must bring their own broom so more people could help pick up or sweep the rubbish on the ground.

•  Father Curso said he is learning a lot from a "young" group about how to run a festival. He said that scattering the performances throughout the day worked because the parents stayed. He said it is inspiring to see everybody getting involved.

•  Val commended Elwin and Mark for the sound and music during that day. He said it exceeded expectations. May also thanked Elwin for taking the group picture of the first communicants for the festival program. Elwin said they will be helping out with the music for 8 th grade graduation reception this year.

Family Mass Recap: Maritess said they got a good response from the first grade parents. Some donated money and some donated food. Sister Leonarda said there was just enough food. Fr. Curso said that it was good to see a lot of people who are not part of the school family joining the reception. Gina thanked Don and Cheryl Simon for helping with the clean up. Next Family Mass will be on June 1 st , sponsored by kindergarten.

NEW BUSINESS

Liturgical Ministers: Sister Leonarda thanked the members of the liturgical committee. She said there is a need to evaluate how things are going to determine strengths and ways to improve. It is also important to understand the spirituality of the whole thing - why we are doing this. She said the meeting will be on May 15. Kim has the flyers. Sister Leonarda told the group to invite other parents to join.

Academic Awards Day: Sister Leonarda said that Gina suggested that Certificates of Appreciation be given out to HAPAC reps during the Academic Awards Day, which will be on June 5 th . Sister requested the group to attend this event, which will be at 8:45 am. For HAPAC reps who cannot attend, the oldest child in school will accept the certificate for them. Sister Leonarda said that the children will feel good knowing that their parents actively support their school. She also said that children whose parents are involved in school do well in school. Queenie mentioned that teachers should give parents a note if their child is receiving an award so the parents can plan to attend. Catherine said that teachers do send notes or call parents. Queenie said not all teachers do it.

School Picnic Day: Sister Leonarda said this will be on June 4 th at the Orange Park in South San Francisco. Aly Gonzalez made the reservation. This will be participated by grades K to 7 th . Sister Leonarda told the group to plan menu for the class with the room parents. HAPAC reps and room mothers organize this event. She reminded everyone to make sure there is enough food for the class. Mr. Calma and Ms. Manalo will organize games. Drivers and chaperones will be needed. The office will send home a letter to parents requesting for volunteers.

Sister Leonarda reminded the group about the retreat on August 23, 2008 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. She also requested the group to let her know as soon as possible if they are not coming back as HAPAC next year.

Election of HAPAC officers for next school year: Gina Morabe was voted Chairperson; Queenie Vitug was voted Vice Chairperson; Catherine Fuerte was voted Secretary; Grace Abad volunteered to be Assistant Secretary.
