Chairman Gina Morabe called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM.

Two items were brought up from last meeting's minutes. Maria said that Rosanna Martin attended the meeting last month not Ron. The statement "Gina reported to the group that she turned in approximately 369 pictures to Catherine taken during the Christmas Program to be shared to all..." should be "Gina took approximately 369 pictures at the Christmas program. She will be providing the copies to Catherine who will try to post them on our website." The minutes was eventually approved through the motion of Maria and seconded by Romy.
Valentine Dance: Jeannie told the group that a photographer is still needed for the Valentine Dance. Also needed are volunteers to serve food and for the reception table. Sister Leonarda said that Mr. Ron Paulino is a possible volunteer. Queenie can help man the reception table from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Emy also volunteered to serve food or help at the reception table. Gina read the list of donations of drinks and cash. Among the donations are 3 door prizes from Dr. Cora Morales. Bartenders will be Romy Natan and Ted Cordano. Sister Leonarda mentioned that the sale of tickets is not very good: 73 paid, 7 tickets with Jeannie, 4 unpaid. Sister Leonarda was able to sell 8 more tickets after HAPAC members bought theirs. Sister Leonarda wants to see ticket sales go up to 100 tickets. Emy volunteered to take care of food for children and babysitters that night. Emy requested from Sister Leonarda a list of 8 th grade parents who have not bought tickets yet so she can persuade them to buy tickets. Jeannie told the group that set up on Friday will begin at 3:00 pm and end around 6:00 pm. The group voted not to set up a stage for the DJ. Barbie Garcilaso de la Vega will do arched balloons. DJ setup will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Queenie told the group that parents want more time dancing. Chona asked if volunteers have to purchase tickets too. The answer to her question is yes. Doors will open at 7:00 pm. Opening prayers will be at 7:30. Dinner begins at 7:45 pm and it will be buffet style. Because of the Lenten season, menu will be seafood and vegetable quiche. Jeannie and some family members will prepare some of the food. A person need not be present to win a raffle prize. Sister Leonard said this would boost raffle ticket sales. Sister Leonarda reminded the group about the raffle prizes from each class. Kindergarten has $100 cash. Mrs. Gutierrez of Lester's Flower Shop will donate a flower arrangement that can be used for decoration during the night and raffled later. Lorie Clemente will contact Lisa Jimenez regarding a possible grand prize from the Hilton Garden Inn.
Spring Celebration: Sister Leonarda told the group that Ron Paulino did the database and envelops for parishioners for Spring Celebration tickets. Tickets are ready to go home to school families through the Family Envelope as soon as Valentine Dance is over. This is a mandatory fundraiser. Sister Leonarda said she already got 200 tickets and started mailing them to family and friends. Booth assignments are as follows: Kinder - games; 1 st grade - Filipino food (The group told Romy and Elwin to ask help from the classroom mothers); 2 nd Grade - flowers and Mexican food; 3 rd Grade - snacks; 4 th Grade - slide jumper, popcorn, cotton candy and churros; 5 th Grade - games; 6 th Grade - jail and ice cream; 7 th Grade - rummage sale and face paint; 8 th Grade - barbecue. Sister Leonarda encouraged the group to look for a booth sponsor to maximize profit. Lorie told the group that she will request Washington Mutual, Junipero Serra branch, to sponsor the 4 th grade booth. Rosanna will call First Republic. Queenie said 3 rd grade will have alumni donors. Romy will contact chiropractor, Dr. Darrow, as possible sponsor for 1 st grade. A template of the letter requesting for sponsorship will be available. Gina told the group to email her the names of companies and she will forward these names to Sister Leonarda who will write letters to these companies. Booth sponsors will be given space in the Spring Celebration program: full-page ad for a $500 sponsorship and half-page ad for $250. Emy asked if there will be an alumni booth. Sister Leonarda said that the alumni booth headed by Mrs. Gloria Armas does very well during the Spring Celebration. She recommended that there be only one alumni booth. Gina will take care of the Welcoming Booth. New families will again be invited. Nametags should be worn by HAPAC members and volunteer workers.
Sister Leonarda stated that Catholic Schools Week and Open House were advertised during the student performances at the Serramonte Mall on January 26 th . Kim also set up artwork at the mall. During Open House, Gina toured 3 families. Alumni Jana Visperas came in her school uniform and did tours for prospective families. A number of families who visited the school have already filed application forms and Mrs. Corral has started testing. Sister encouraged the group to spread the word, send out or download application forms to relatives and friends. Families that bring in students to the school get their registration fee for next school year waived.
According to Sister Leonarda, the dance lessons with Ms. Manalo after the open house was not well attended so the second class was cancelled.
Fourth Grade Family Mass went well according to Lorie despite the fact that not a lot of families attended the Mass because of the Super Bowl. She also commented that not all families from fourth grade brought food for the reception, but there was enough food for those who came to the reception.
Dress Code Policy: A concern regarding students not being able to wear their jackets inside the classroom when it's cold was brought up to Sister Leonarda's attention. Sister Leonarda read the dress code policy in the school's handbook. She said that the heater is always on in the classroom and there is no need to wear jackets in the classroom if students are wearing their complete uniform. But some students do not come to school with their sweaters. Sister reminded parents that turtlenecks are allowed under the uniform. Val said that an exception should be made in extreme weather conditions. The type of jackets that children wear was also brought up. Sister Leonarda explained that expensive jackets with sports logos are not allowed because a long time ago, when a lot of students walked home, these jackets were a hazard to the students because they get stolen. Romy asked if there is anything in the handbook that states that students are not allowed to wear boots. He said his daughter wore solid black boots to school and Mrs. Lee told her she is not allowed to. The group recommended that amendments be made on the current school dress code policy. Sister Leonarda told the group that she would bring up this matter with the faculty.
Gina announced that Graduation Ceremonies and Baccalaureate Mass will again be separated. The Graduation Ceremonies and Baccalaureate Mass were combined a few years ago at the request of parents and as recommended by Father Curso so parents do not have to come to school twice. The class of 2008 wanted to have the Mass with the entire student body so they sent a request to Father Manuel Curso if it was all right to split the two events again. Father Manuel agreed. Graduation will be on May 30 th . Baccalaureate Mass will be at 8:45 am and Graduation Ceremonies will be at 3:00 pm.
Next Family Mass will be on March 2 nd. Sister Leonarda informed the group that the next Family Mass will be sponsored by the third grade class. The Sisters will be attending a conference in Anaheim so they will not be present during the Family Mass. Sister Leonarda asked if Rosanna can practice and take care of the choir with Laura Nordman. Sister Leonarda will check if Margaret Ann can play the piano.
Church Ministers Workshop: Ted talked about the training for new church ministers sponsored by the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Flyers were handed out to the group. The event will be on February 23 rd (9:30 am to 3:30 pm) and March 8 th (10:00 am to Noon) at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Belmont. Participants will receive a certificate of completion. Ted spoke about needing more participation and involvement from parents and parishioners by becoming ushers, Eucharistic ministers and lectors. He said that our community has talented people who have something to offer to the church.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM
