Sister Leonarda led the opening prayer.
Gina asked the group if there were any questions/comments on the minutes of the November 19, 2007 Meeting, which is now posted, along with the other Minutes, on the School's website thanks to Catherine Fuerte. Since there were no questions or corrections to the Minutes, the group approved the Minutes, clapped and thanked Catherine. Sister Leonarda commented by asking Catherine of the percentage of parents who are actually checking the snap grades. According to Catherine, other parents or students from certain grades check their snap grades more than once a day, but others do not check at all. Sister Leonarda asked for the group's feedback on how to reach out to all parents, especially now that the Minutes of the HAPAC Meetings are being posted and made available to improve the communication. Grace suggested that a hard copy be posted on the bulletin board; Queenie shared with the group that 3 rd and 7 th grades created a google group for parents and that it's working very well.
Sister Leonarda and Gina went over the Old Business as follows:
Gift Wrap Fund Raiser - Sister Leonarda reported that the Final Profit was $9,105.93; 29 students won on-line game cards for selling 20 items or more.
According to Sister Leonarda, City Tour Fund Raiser was a fun-filled event and it made a Final Profit of $629.00; there was a $100.00 donation from someone who paid but did not make it.
Gina reported that the 1 st Simbang Gabi was very well attended and thanked Sister Leonarda for taking care of the porridge through Southgate Café; Kim mentioned that Holy Angels School Altar Servers really stepped up to the plate when they go around the 5, 6, 7 & 8 th grades and asked for Altar Servers since the Simbang Gabi was not included in the regular schedule. Sister Leonarda and Kim both agreed to send a thank you note to the Altar Servers and parents.
Sister Leonarda reported that she got a lot of negative feedback about the sound system during the Christmas Program at Riordan High School held on December 14, 2007. She informed the group that the School paid $1,000.00 for the venue but does not include the sound system. She said we were not able to avail of the services of the Viernezas (last year's sound system provider) due to other commitment. She further informed the group that a play type of presentation that will not require a sound system was suggested to Ms. Manalo for future shows, but it shows that the children really enjoy doing it and are willing to sacrifice to be able to share their God-given talents. Gina took approximately 369 pictures at the Christmas program. She will be providing the copies to Catherine who will try to post them on our website.
5 th Grade Family Mass - Sunday, January 6, 2008 - 5 th Grade Representatives reported that 100% of the students showed up and that they were happy to be the Mass Sponsors. Gina added that it's not only nice to have them attend the Mass in uniform, but it's also a good marketing and promotion of the school.
Final Profits for Walk-jog-a-thon and Candy Sale were not yet available due to some outstanding accounts.
Chaperoning, incidents, HAPAC Code of Ethics, duties and responsibilities - Sister Leonarda discussed the duties, responsibilities and Code of Ethics of a HAPAC Representative again. She mentioned that the detailed guideline is posted on the School website for everybody's information and ready reference. She also explained that it is not a chaperone's responsibility to discipline a child entrusted to them, any information should be verified at all times, and should be reported to the teacher and Sister Leonarda. Do not go directly to the parents. Sister Leonarda repeated to the group that safety issues should be handled responsibly and carefully. Val suggested to ALWAYS WORK IN pairs, and be aware of what you say and do that may not be misconstrued or misinterpreted.
